Day 151 is A Certain Sentiment which is "You Can Do It" for http://365cards.blogspot.com

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

This is my take on Day 150 at http://365cards.blogspot.com. We were supposed to use a homophone on our card. I was going to do one of a tree and the caption "Life's a Beech" but then I saw these stamps and decided to do this one. What a great challenge! I don't like how my "sand" came out though.

Like Barb, I also love sponging (don't do it enough) and I LOVE Halloween! My bat and cat were punched from those little cardboard paint "chips" you get in the paint dept. They are so cool to use. I'm not crazy about how the grass turned out. I've got to get new daubers and sponges. Anyway Barb, I love your card and loved this challenge for Day 149 on http://365cards.blogspot.com Now I can't wait until Halloween!

This is my take on Day 148 at http://365cards.blogspot.com I realized after I scanned it in that although I remembered the half circle, I forgot the strip across the side and top. It would have been cute to put the barbed wire there. Oh well!

Okay Linda, this card is for you. Hurry up and drink the pink one, the "salt" is falling off it, see? (It's sparkly stuff that didn't dry completely before I put it on the scanner!) So remember "When life gives you limes....make Margaritas!" I'm still awake, it's 2:37 although the blog time is different on here. I just ate a piece of zucchinni bread. I'm listening to Ozzy sing "Crazy Train." Probably not the best song if I want to go to sleep huh? I have made 3 cards tonight so at least I'm accomplishing something. I'd better get to those dishes though. I didn't make it to the fireworks. It was way too crowded! Driving through town was just crazy so I headed for the hills. Now I'm listening to the song "Mr. Sandman." Think I'll go to sleep? That's what I call Bud....Sandman.

Day 147 at http://365cards.blogspot.com. I scraplifted a card by Vicky from Day 119 (June 27th) "Seeing a Silhouette." I'm caught up for the week. Phew!

Here is my take on Day 146 for http://365.blogspot.com. I bought the paper, ribbon and saying at JoAnn Fabrics quite some time ago. I don't know what company they are from.

This card is for day 145 Ad Inspired on http://365cards.blogspot.com I'm not crazy about this card. I wish I had a bird to put on there like the picture of the pillow but I didn't. This was a hard challenge for me.

I went to a luau party today.....so much fun! Thanks Jodie! Anyway, I'm not saying I'm a bad girl but I NEVER kept a diary {:-) I love the saying on this stamp so I had to make a card out of it. I punched the sides , stamped a flower and tore the side and inked it up. I think I should put more flowers on the side that is still white....gotta do something, it's too plain.

This is my take on Day 144 You Raise Me Up on http://365cards.blogspot.com.
I used Inkadinkado and Hampton Art Stamps, colored and popped them up with dots. I used the bubbles folder on my cuttlebug and put a flower on with dots. After I had it done I thought I should have stamped, colored and cut out a pair of high heels and popped them on there instead of the flower. Maybe next time......

This is my take on a sympathy card with no saying on the outside for day 143 on http://365cards.blogspot.com. I used CTMH Silhouette paper.
This is my take on Day 142 on http://365cards.blogspot.com. The card stock and background paper is CTMH, the sticker is something I had laying around and I didn't have rhinestones or glitter so I used beads. It probably could have used a ribbon or something else. Any ideas?
This is my Day 141 card for http://365cards.blogspot.com/. The cardstock is CTMH, the ribbon and background paper are from JoAnn Fabrics. I want to thank everyone for their kind comments this past week.

This card was made with a chipboard bird that I painted. This was the challenge on http://365cards.blogspot.com
I used acrylic paint for the body and eye. I drew his feet with a Copic marker.
I made this card using a sketch by Deneen Treble. It is for the 365cards blogspot. The challenge was to bind something together. Although Deneen's card was hooked to a card base, mine is 2 pieces of card stock attached with the brads. All items are CTMH except the phrase.
This is my paper piercing card for the 365cardsblogspot.com. The spacecraft and the exhaust have been pierced. The stamp set is from CTMH. The spacecraft, alien, and star were colored with Copic Markers.

Quotation Card

The card challenge on http://365cards.blogspot.com was to make a card using a quote. This is a very simple card. I love the quote from Bob Dylan. It is part of a stamp set from CTMH.

Clams...the other white meat

I made this card for my friend Bud as an invitation to a clambake. I loved the lobster and his sign and the little starfish. I used CTMH cardstock in twilight, sandy paper from JoAnn fabrics, Gina K. design stamp, and Copic Markers to color the scenery.
This is my take on the black and white and red all over card challenge for http://365cards.blogspot.com/ for today. Can't wait to see what's on for tomorrow. I used CTMH cardstock, CTMH stamp "Playful Flourishes" for squiggles and words. I used Hero Arts stamps for the flower and leaf.
I made this for the 365 days challenge and then realized I had read it wrong and needed an acetate window, not a card made with acetate. Ooops! I had fun making it anyway. I used all Close to My Heart materials except for the coloring which was done with Prisma colors colored pencils. The inside sentiment reads "Snow friends come and go with seasons, but real friends last forever."

This is a card I did from a sketch at 365cards.blogspot.com. My bear's tent even has a half-hitch holding it to the "pegs". I used CTMH cardstock and a stamp set called "Beary Best." I used Copic Markers to color. The brads are from JoAnn fabrics. The hemp is from Walmart.

Tea Bag Folding

The above cards are examples of a technique called tea bag folding. In Europe their teabags are wrapped in beautiful papers (unlike ours here in the US). One day a lady began folding them into different shapes and came up with some great designs. There are many different patterns, these are just 2 examples. You can get the special papers and directions from this website:

Mojo Monday Sketch

This is my Mojo Monday sketch card. I used CTMH materials, Moon Doggie paper, cranberry and desert sand card stock and Paradise stamp set.

Paradise Card

I made this card today. It is a stamp set from CTMH that I fell in love with.

Dahlia Folding

I posted the other day about Iris Folding. This Calla Lily and the Baby Bug is an example of Dahlia Folding. I find it to be a little more challenging than Iris Folding as you have to fold the paper to make it fit in your space. With Iris Folding you only fold a strip of paper in half and add it to your design. It's been awhile since I have done this technique.

Playing Catch Up

I haven't been on in 3 days so I'm playing catch up! I downloaded 2 cards, Love in Bloom and Christmas Tree. The technique is called Iris Folding. It is not difficult, but is a little challenging until you get used to it. It really makes a WOW effect when you give an Iris folded card to someone. They have a hard time figuring out how you did it. You need alot of scotch tape. I use the invisible kind as it is easier to work with. I wait until it goes on sale (Christmas is a good time) and then buy alot of it so I can have some for the whole year. I haven't made alot of them yet this year. I have a pattern for a maple leaf that is absolutely stunning done in Autumn colors. I don't have one made up now, I will post one this fall. I took a class on this technique. The teacher felt bad as she had to run the scrapbook store and teach the class. She told me she felt like refunding my money. I am a quick learner and didn't need a whole lot of her help once she showed me the basics. There was another lady in the class with me and she gave me some pointers as she had taken the class before and just took it again to get some new designs.

Friends Card

I made this Friends card using non Close To My Heart materials. I love the sentiment by Eleanor Roosevelt. The inside is blank as it is a notecard. CTMH does have a stamp set with that sentiment now. I need to scan a card everyday so I can get rid of that DUH feeling everytime I do it. I'm having trouble remembering the steps (and should write them down!) I will be doing some updates. My brother Fran told me I need to add some things to get people to my blog. His blog is something to behold! I think he must spend alot of time on it!

Happy 4th of July

I made a card for the 4th and it came out nice using all CTMH materials. I used "Stickles" that I colored with Close To My Heart ink (Honey) for the inside of the sparkler flame. I also made a card for my friend Bud with a Penny Black Hedgehog. (I got to see an actual Hedgehog at our Relay for Life this year.) I used CTMH cardstock in Twilight and colored the image with Copic Markers. The inside sentiment says "Relax" because he is always doing something instead of just sitting down and enjoying life! I love the Copic Markers even though they are pretty expensive.
